CMES Responds to EPA’s Methane Rule Rollback

Statement from Coalition Executive Director Isaac Brown: “We are deeply disappointed by Trump Administration’s rollback of Environmental Protection Agency’s new source methane rules to cut emissions from oil and gas sites.  Today’s decision is misguided as the original standards were put into place after many years of discussions with all aspects of the oil and gas industry. These common sense rules had the support of both and independent producers as well as the methane mitigation industry. The rollback announced today will hurt our air and climate and lead toward more waste and fewer jobs. Moving forward, our members will continue to work with producers to find common-sense, solutions to addressing methane emissions.  We also appreciate that many states, run by both Republican and Democratic governors are instituting policies to address methane.
