STATEMENT

Center for Methane Emissions Solutions, a national business coalition of companies in the methane emission detection and repair industry issued the following statement in reaction to the passage of a Resolution of disapproval, under the Congressional Review Act (CRA), to reinstate Obama-era regulations of methane emissions from the oil and gas industry—the largest source of this powerful greenhouse gas in the United States

CMES’s Executive Director, Isaac Brown released the following statement in reaction to the announcement:

“The Center for Methane Emissions Solutions applauds the House of Representative for passing on a bipartisan vote, legislation rolling back the Trump Administration’s misguided methane policy.  In taking this important step, the House has joined the Senate in moving the country closer to re-establishing a sensible set of rules that would provide clear, attainable standards for industry to understand and plan for throughout the country.  Methane emissions, a harmful pollutant, can be reduced in a manner that supports jobs and our economy, and we look forward to working with members of both parties and the Biden Administration to address this issue in a constructive manner.
